Pierrot or Pedrolino, is a character of the old Italian comedy,
one of the zanni or servants buffoons of the Italian comedy. Pierrot is
ingenuous, airspeed indicator and has a certain amount of good direction. Its
clothing is white. It has the enfariné face. Often in the commedia dell' arte,
it is rival of Harlequin at Francisquine or Zerbinette. Of all the masks and
buffoons of the Italian comedy, Pierrot is that which was longest maintained
with the theater.
